College Football is so close you can almost hear the thud of the football coming off the kicker’s foot. SEC Media Days will begin in a couple of days, and this event is the green light for the 2015 season. Coaches and players will be on camera and in front of radio microphones. Then, it’s time for fall camp, and before you can say punt, snap, catch, the South Carolina Gamecocks and the North Carolina Tar Heels will be playing at Bank of America Stadium on a Thursday night in September. It will be a great SEC/ACC battle.

Can the SEC stay on top as the premier conference? After having seven national titles in a row, the SEC has now gone two years without a title. Since 2000, the SEC has won eight national titles (Alabama has three; Florida and LSU have two apiece; and Auburn won it all in 2010). This year, it looks like Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Georgia will be the teams from the SEC contending for conference and national championships. There are several explosive players in the SEC who look to have award-winning seasons. While a lot of questions about quarterback will need to be answered, there seems to be a lot of talent at running back, tight end and linebacker.

Here are the running backs to watch in the SEC this year: Georgia’s Nick Chubb, LSU’s Leonard Fournette, Arkansas’ Jonathan Williams, Alabama’s Derrick Henry, Missouri’s Russell Hansbrough, and Arkansas’ Axex Collins.

The tight ends to watch this year include: Arkansas’ Hunter Henry, Ole Miss’ Evan Engram, Alabama’s OJ Howard and Vanderbilt’s Steven Scheu.

Here are the linebackers to keep an eye on: Georgia’s Leonard Floyd, Auburn’s Cassanova McKinzy, Alabama’s Reggie Ragland, Missouri’s Kentrell Brothers and Mississippi State’s CJ Johnson.

Get ready because it’s time to get another college football season started!
