Jacob Bunn's 2011 Kentucky Football Preview
Posted on June 7, 2011 by Jacob Bunn
Predicted 2011 Record: 5-7 (1-7)
Joker Phillips is preparing for his second season as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. Last year, the Wildcats went 6-6 in the regular season and 2-6 in the SEC. They were beaten 27-10 by Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
This season hopes are high in the bluegrass state that the Cats can take another step forward. The problem, though, is Kentucky’s difficult road schedule.
This is how I see Kentucky’s 2011 season shaking out:
Sept 3 – Western Kentucky (Win 31-10)
Sept 10 – Central Michigan (Win 42-9)
Sept 17 – Louisville (Win 27-21)
Sept 24 – Florida (Loss 34-28)
Oct 1 – @LSU (Loss 24-14)
Oct 8 – @South Carolina (Loss 26-21)
Oct 15 – Off
Oct 22 – Jacksonville State (Win 45-7)
Oct 29 – Mississippi State (Loss 17-14)
Nov 5 – Ole Miss (Win 24-21)
Nov 12 – @Vanderbilt (Loss 28-20)
Nov 19 – @Georgia (Loss 28-14)
Nov 26 – Tennessee (Loss 20-17)
I don’t believe it is going to be the kind of year for which Wildcat fans are hoping. The schedule is too rigorous in my opinion for Kentucky to get to a bowl.
