On this show, Jacob Bunn and David Sears recap Alabama beating LSU, Oregon going down to Stanford, Auburn's win over Tennessee, and Florida's loss to Vanderbilt.
Can one of Alabama's eight SEC opponents dethrone the Tide? That is the most significant question looking at this season. Most think a road game against Texas A&M and a home game against LSU are the biggest stumbling blocks to the Tide this year.
As a fan of southern football, I personally would be disappointed if traditional rivalries were removed from the annual schedule.
There's a storm preparing to hit SEC country after the season, and it has to do with several major programs looking to fill coaching vacancies. Let's look at a few of the upcoming storylines.
Tonight under the lights at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Tennessee will face-off against North Carolina State. This game will be pivotal for both head coaches. Tennessee’s Derek Dooley has long been thought to be on the hot seat, and N.C. State’s Tom O’Brien could also feel pressure if he does not produce a successful enough season. But for Dooley, the task is more urgent.
If Derek Dooley is to retain his position after this season, Tennessee’s brand will need to return to its former prominence quickly. The only way that can be done is by the Volunteers beating North Carolina State in Atlanta on opening weekend, and I think beating Florida at home in week three is necessary as well. If Tennessee starts 1-2, Dooley will certainly be looking for a new job.
