Over the past decade, no conference has had more success and impact on the national championship than the SEC. The league ran off seven consecutive BCS Championships, and last year it won the College Football Playoff to now have eight out of the last 10 titles. That is a tremendous run of success that is unlikely to ever be equaled.
Last year, Alabama won what is widely considered the best division in college football, the SEC West. The Tide lost to Ole Miss in week three and never looked back, cruising to the national title. While Florida had unforeseen success under first year head coach Jim McElwain a year ago when his team made to to Atlanta, the SEC East is once again wide open in 2016. Here is how we think this season will shake out.
SEC West:
- LSU 11-1 (7-1)
- Alabama 11-1 (7-1)
- Auburn 9-3 (5-3)
- Texas A&M 8-4 (4-4)
- Arkansas 7-5 (4-4)
- Ole Miss 7-5 (4-4)
- Mississippi State 7-5 (3-5)
SEC East:
- Tennessee 11-1 (7-1)
- Florida 8-4 (5-3)
- Georgia 7-5 (4-4)
- Kentucky 6-6 (3-5)
- South Carolina 5-7 (1-7)
- Missouri 4-8 (1-7)
- Vanderbilt 2-10 (0-8)
We feel that LSU will beat Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game and be in prime position to represent the league in the College Football Playoff.
